A meeting of the Rent Setting Working Group was held on Thursday 26 October 2017 and although there was a poor attendance it did provide an opportunity to discuss various issues regarding how we set our rents. Issues discussed included the use of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations Affordability Tool as a means of checking whether or not our proposed rent levels continue to remain affordable for tenants, how to account for inflation when setting rent levels and proposals for applying different levels of rent increase to different sizes of property. It was also noted that the timing of the rent consultation should be timed to avoid it taking place shortly before Christmas. Feedback from the Working Group will be considered further by Waverley before any decision on proposed rent levels to apply from April 2018 is made.
