Regeneration of Upper Langlee Estate, Galashiels

We are pleased to report that phase one of our regeneration plans for most of our housing stock in Upper Langlee commenced in January 2020 when the external refurbishment works to 68 flats and maisonettes got underway.  After a procurement exercise Everwarm have been appointed to carry out these works and they have been liaising with all residents in properties undergoing these refurbishment works to ensure they proceed as smoothly as possible.  Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, all works on site have had to be suspended until the Scottish Government provides guidance on when it will be appropriate to return to work on site.  This means that our original target date for completing these works will not be met and a new target date will be set once a return to normal working has been made. We would like to express our thanks to residents who have been understanding of the reasons for the delay in completing these works despite any inconvenience caused to them.

In relation to the other part of our regeneration plans we are continuing to work on developing a detailed planning application and are hoping that this can be submitted to Scottish Borders Council in June 2020. As this is a major planning application we expect that it could take 4 to 5 months before a final decision on the application is made by the Council.  All residents will receive notification of the planning application in due course and have an opportunity to provide feedback to the Council.  In the meantime we have carried out a procurement exercise to appoint an Employers Agent who will act for Waverley in finalising the detailed design  and costing of the regeneration plans and support us in the procurement of a contractor to undertake the demolition and new build works on the estate. After a very competitive procurement exercise we are pleased to report that we have appointed MB Langmuir Hay to the role of Employers Agent and look forward to working with them to progress our regeneration plans.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries regarding any element of our regeneration plans.
