Waverley Housing Association community day, held at Langlee, near Galashiels. On Tuesday 3rd June Langlee Residents’ Association (LRA) and Waverley Housing staff combined forces to create a small 25th anniversary rose garden within the grassed area adjacent to the Jubilee Play Park at Beech Avenue, Galashiels.    Waverley Housing donated roses, purchased from Lowood Nursery in Melrose, for this project and it is hoped they will add a splash of colour to the area during the summer months.  Whilst Waverley staff, including CEO Margaret Ross, beavered away in the garden area, Judith Cleghorn Chair of LRA and Pamela Martyn, Tenant Participation Officer with Waverley Housing, were on hand to answer any resident’s questions and to hear their views and ideas for activities they would like to see at a potential community hub project in the area.  The community police also popped by for a quick visit.

Residents turned out in large numbers to show their support and came up with some very good ideas for use of the hub.  In addition, The Healthy Living Network were on hand to provide free nutritional advice and ideas on how to make simple healthy meals on a low budget and Tesco provided a whole host of fresh fruit for people to sample.

If you live in the Langlee area and want to find out more about the community hub project or how you could get involved, please contact Pamela Martyn at Waverley Housing on 01450 364 200.
