Last year Halliburton’s Fifth Ward Community Centre in Galashiels, affectionately known as the Mission Hall, received grant funding totaling £14,000 which enabled the hall to be refurbished. New windows, new toilets, a new kitchen and a new heating system were all installed. However the monies didn’t stretch far enough to allow for the decoration of the main upstairs hall and the committee approached Waverley for help.
This was a project we were happy to get involved with. We contacted Crown Paints to see if we could get the materials required, free of charge, and were delighted when they said yes. Waverley Housing provided the labour free of charge and our qualified painters and decorators spent three days working in the hall. Firstly they erected scaffolding and then painted the roof, all the walls and the woodwork.
As you can see they made an excellent job and the committee was delighted with the end result. A big thank you to all who took part in this project and to Crown Paints who generously provided the materials free of charge.
