In addition to supporting Radio Borders Mission Christmas Appeal Waverley staff  held a number of small fundraising activities throughout last year and we recently presented a cheque for £150 to Radio Borders for the Cash for Kids charity.

Cash for Kids is the official charity of Radio Borders and provides a helping hand to disabled and disadvantaged children around the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

All the money is raised locally and spent locally and goes to children and young people under 18 throughout the region, with mental, physical or sensory disabilities, with behavioural or psychological disorders, living in poverty or situations of deprivation, suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.

Candy Rafferty from Radio Borders said they were delighted to receive this donation and advised that the first round of grant funding will be decided at the end of March, and already the applications received amount to over £10,000!

Bids for funding include specialist Braille equipment for two blind children, a programme trial across all Scottish Borders primary schools aimed at reducing anxiety and stress in children/teenagers and over £2000 in clothing.
