Local Housing Strategy 2023-2028

Scottish Borders Council has begun work on the next Local Housing Strategy (LHS) for the Scottish Borders. The LHS will be a five year strategy covering 2023-2028. A key part of the development of the LHS is early engagement. Early engagement helps to ensure that people have a greater opportunity to have their say and influence the future of their communities, including the delivery of housing and housing related services.

We have developed a survey for residents in the Scottish Borders. The closing date for the two surveys is 11th September. Here are the links to the survey:

There is an option at the end of the resident survey to book a place on one of the workshops. The resident workshops will be taking place between 2nd – 10th August. Alternatively you can book a space on one of the workshops here: https://scotborders.citizenspace.com/housing/local-housing-strategy-2023-28-resident-workshops/

The workshops have been split into four topics. These are based on four housing issues papers that have been prepared as part of the development of the Local Housing Strategy. The fours topics are:

·       Housing Delivery and Place Making

·       Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Housing Quality

·       Homelessness

·       Particular Housing and Specialist Provision.

You can attend as many of the workshops as you want. You can access and read the issues papers here: https://www.scotborders.gov.uk/downloads/download/1489/local_housing_strategy_-_housing_issues_papers
