Tenant Alterations
If you want to make alterations to your home, you must first seek
permission from us. Please note that we may insist that the property is
reinstated to its original condition when your tenancy ends.
You must ask us for permission if you would like to do any of the
following:
Erect a shed, greenhouse, porch or fence
Remove a hedge or tree if you have a garden
Keep a pet
Put up a satellite dish
Make any alterations to your home
Install a driveway within the property boundary
To request permission for an alteration, please complete an application
for ‘Permission to alter your Home or Garden’ form. Copies are available
at our office, or you can download a copy on our website. This can be
found within the FAQ section in the Tenant Zone.
Medical Adaptations
Waverley is committed to the principle of enabling tenants to stay in their
own home as long as possible. One of the main ways of doing this is to
carry out adaptations to help a person whose medical and mobility needs
have changed since they moved in.
If you require your home to be adapted in some way (e.g. handrails,
shower instead of a bath), you should contact Scottish Borders Council
Social Care and Health on 0300 100 1800 who will make an appointment
with you for an Occupational Therapist to visit you to carry out an
assessment. This service is for anyone, of any age, whose independence
and mobility is limited because of a physical disability, frailty or ill-health.
