Help with your Fuel Bills

The Energy Price Cap has increased, by 10% from 1 October 2024, an increase from £1568 to £1717 per year.

Please note that Ofgem’s energy price cap is not exactly what you will be charged for your usage, nor is it the maximum. Rather, it is the amount an average household can expect to pay for their energy per year. And with the winter months approaching, it likely means that most household will use more than average; many should expect increased costs exceeding 10 percent.

If you have a “dry meter “, you should provide your suppliers with an up-to-date meter reading, and ensure that any bills you receive are accurate and not based on estimates.

If you have a pre-payment meter, try to ensure that you do not go into the emergency credit zone, as this will cost you more. Also remember, regardless of whether or not you use your gas or electricity, you will be charged a daily rate by your supplier for connection.

Waverley Housing have limited funds available to help alleviate the cost of your energy, also if you are paying by pre-payment meter we may be able to provide you with a voucher from The Fuel Bank Foundation, these funds are also limited.

We can also arrange for our Warm and Well advisor Terry Brown, to contact you to offer help with your energy bills, check meters and provide energy saving advice.

If you would like further information re any or the above, or to seek the services of Terry Brown, please contact us at info@waverley-housing.co.uk.
