Consultation on Monthly Rent Charges
As part of our investment in improving our Housing Management System we are required to change how we charge your rent from weekly to monthly, please see the Q&A below and the link to our consultation.
Changes to how we charge your rent
From the 1st of July 2026 we will move to the Homemaster Housing Management System, this requires us to charge and debt your rent monthly rather than weekly as we do at present. This means that rent will be due from the 1st of the month in advance and the rent will be debited monthly on your rent account on the 1st of the month unless it falls on a Saturday or Sunday. Below are some questions and answers to help you understand.
I get paid weekly and pay my rent weekly, will I have to change?
No, you can continue to pay your rent weekly, you can get advice on the weekly rent due by contacting us if you obtain partial benefit and/or remain unsure what you should pay if you budget weekly.
Will this change impact on my benefit?
If you are in receipt of full benefit, this will not have any change for you, where you are in receipt of partial benefit you will need to ensure any shortfall is paid either weekly or monthly. If you currently pay weekly, then this will continue.
Will I need to change my direct debit?
No, we will only change your direct debit based on your payment frequency of weekly or monthly, we will not change the frequency unless you have requested this or discussed it with us.
Do I need to change my Standing Order?
The payment frequency can be made based on your budgeting, either weekly or monthly.
Will I need a change to my tenancy agreement?
Yes, we will be issuing new agreements to all tenants with a signature sheet that you must return, in the event you do not return this, we will make reasonable contact with you to get a signed copy and then operate as if you are aware of the monthly rent debt as notified in this letter. We will also take the opportunity to develop a new model lease which ensures all tenants have the same agreement.
Will my ish date (this refers to the exit date, all tenancies have an entry and exit date) change from my tenancy agreement?
No, this will remain as 4 weekly
